RC Lichtenstein is the Tampa Rays A ball pitching coach and worked with current Ray's David Price, Wade Davis, Jeremy Hellickson, Jake McGee, Matt Moore as they were going through the system and the Nat's Steven Strasburg in the Arizona fall league.

He is as good teaching the mental side as he is with mechanics.

He is Fox Valley Sports Academy in Elgin and The Hitting Zone in Bartlett.
I could have PM'd you, but maybe I'll modestly throw my name out there. I'll just consider myself someone that is closer in location to you and not high-end. And, rather than describing what I have done, this is what I can do for you. I try not to toot my own horn (not even sure if it's worth tooting).

What to expect: A workout - Stability, Mobility, Flexibility training. You will learn how arm deceleration affects your arm's acceleration and how that ultimately can affect velocity; How stabilizing certain body parts, during the delivery, can affect a consistent release point; How loss of flexibility, due to the long season, can also affect your body (think velocity again); Kinematic sequencing (a fancy phrase for sequencing - all rotational athletes have this); Learn how important spinal alignment and posture is; Expect to get a binder with your take home materials to work on when I am not there (yes, homework - every week); learn how to stabilize your rotator cuff (one of the most mobile joints in the body); learn how to balance your body (yes, I can do an assessment) and learn how creating better movement patterns can ultimately benefit your delivery; and, learn how to improve your hitting at the same time your pitching improves (hitting is rotational right?); etc, etc, etc...

What NOT to expect: Don't expect to come in, pick up a ball, and throw the ball for 30-60 minutes (never have, never will); Hear buzz words such as "core" and think it just applies to the abs (well, its great if you are solely thinking about hip flexion); Expect me to constantly say "do this, or do that" if you physically can not do it (we'll fix it-your body needs to adapt); Don't expect to move on, unless you can teach me the material (again, my job is to coach you, on how to coach yourself); If you want to show me that curveball, please start off by throwing me a well-located fastball and changeup and explain to me why missing north-south could be a glove problem and an east-west problem could be because of your head movement; etc, etc, etc...

If you are willing to learn and want to honor your committment to baseball, I can help. If you want to know about Effective Velocity, you'll learn that too! Learn why I am again being trusted to be the strength and conditioning coach for last year's 4A runner up.

I currently have limited availability for a few reasons: 1) I have only 2 spots remaining for baseball strength and conditioning workouts which are on M/W/F from 5:30-6:30. Your sophomore would fit right in considering all current participants are high school athletes. All clients get their own workouts, not a cookie cutter baseball program that never changes; 2) Weds evenings there is availability only after 6:30; and 3) I am already booked through Friday evenings. I don't work on those other days because I have a full time job and an awesome family of which I like to spend lots of time with.

I leave you with a last few words. I have been fortunate enough to sell out this past year with lessons and workouts, help earn a pitcher a scholarship, help a team to a state runner up finish, and earn the trust of new clients who have recently switched over from a facility within this post. I am long-winded, passionate about teaching, not afraid to fail, and certainly not afraid to throw my name out there because, at this point, I think there is more value in my system and my testimonials support that.

I invite you to come out and watch workouts as early as this Friday (tomorrow), in Darien, and put the face to the name. I'd like to interview to train your son and see if you are a fit for me as well. I won't dissapoint and I can promise you that you'll probably learn something in the mix.

Looking forward to speaking to you. Let's chat and come see how we have integrated sports performance with baseball instruction

P.S. If allowed, here is my one and only shameless plug about my 8-week Pitching Workshop we are currently starting in November. As of today, we are half sold out. We sold out two last year. It's awesome - just ask my mom!
That's a benefit, Wog. I don't own one. I subcontract space. Therefore, I can come to you if necessary. I take care of my own scheduling, payments, and interface with facilities...However, in the past few years, I have accumulated a lot of supplemental equipment. So, I have worked something out with the owner of The Perfect Swing in Darien (think Lemont Rd and I-55) and since have done most of my workouts out there. But, theres always the option. I'll be there tonight if you'd like to come by - older kids strength and conditioning (2 assessments tonight - 520-630) and one workout (young kid)from 8-830. Any time in between is good for long-winded conversation about if we are good fit for one another. If not, no worries, let's chat - 815-272-4811.
Renegade, checked with who? My wife? lol..

2bagger, good to hear from you!

Not that I do many lessons to start with (Like fld too much) .,,,but, We are coming to the time a year where I think its important to give the arms a rest( especially younger arms lacking strength). Thats most likley why I wouldnt be doing a lesson in late Oct /Nov.
Everyone is different and its not a shot against the guys that roll on through.
Just me...
