My son's team has used 6 pitchers in varsity games this year...3-4 starters and they do have a closer. They also have a couple of middle relief pitchers who may be starters. No starter has gone more than 5 innings or about 75 pitches. Conference play begins next week, so the true rotation will come into focus, probably 3 starters.
So far, it looks to me like my nephew's team, Normal West, has a 4 man rotation, with guys skipped sometimes if there are rainouts or light schedule. Also have others that can start if schedule is sometimes heavy. I think they have used 8 or 9 different pitchers at this point of the season. Another darn rainout today!
