hello I am a 6'3 190 lb rhp currently i sit 80-83 but have been making some incredible pitching velo gains gained 6 mph since i started throwing last month and i will be attending a showcase this sunday. I am wondering what colleges will be looking for velocity wise considering it is december and people aren't fully "stretched out" yet and are still lifting conditioning and throwing

say if it get up to 86-88 by the spring do you think i would have a chance at d1 or would it be to late by then?
What grade are you?
What are the off speed velo's
Go read "What was your son's velocity when he first got recruited?" thread in the recruiting forum, that will give you a great overview and very good background.
You have size and height so you will get some "projectability points".
For top 50 D1's they are looking for 90+ guys, for mid majors probably 87-89 for someone your size/height. They also look for any funky delivery and side arm throwers for situational relievers.
Keep working hard and good luck!
BOF makes a good point. Velo is extremely important but not the only thing looked at.
My 2016 is 6' tall and tops at 84 currently. Has been verbally committed to top 50 or so D1 program since end of summer.
For him he found a pitching coach that believes in son's stuff (can't throw anything close to straight), his makeup and coach's ability to add velo.
http://www.drivelinebaseball.com/ i will be doing the weighted baseball throwing program from here as well

While velo is important it's not the only thing scouts and recruiters look for. velo can get you noticed but rarely velo alone is enough. ( unless your really up there) Most guys I have talked to are looking for things the average player , dad, mom do not even think about. how your arm works, your hips , body type, mound presence, grades, attitude , something different example, sub guy , side arm.. not to mention the need of the coach, one school may need a pitcher like you, another team may not.
As you go forward keep in mind the gains in velo will slow down as you get faster.... it's relatively easy to go from 82 to 87 but to go from 87 to 92 is twice as hard in many cases. If you want it bad enough your will find a place to play.....
Keep reading this site and keep all options open. you will know more after Sunday.
