Coming into Greenville undefeated, Louisburg dropped 3 of 4 games to Pitt CC this past weekend. Pete Levitt, '07 graduate from Cape Henry Collegiate faced top prospect Paul Clemons in the 1st game on Sunday. Both pitchers were throwing low to mid 90's heat. Levitt went 5 and 1/3rd innings, striking out 10 and giving up 3 runs on 2 hits, but did not get the win in the 9-4 victory.

I don't know what you saw at that game, but it was just one game. I was there and Levitt was nowhere near his best, and that is why they lost that game. However, perhaps if you are so much in the baseball "know", you should ask one of the 15 or so pro scouts who are showing up to his games what they are getting on their guns now. Velocity is not everything. You still have to throw strikes. But last year at Cape Henry, Levitt was pretty consistant at 86-88, touching 90-91 on occasions. To move to 88-92 touching 94 is not unbelievable.
I've been on hsbw for a few years now and one thing ive noticed is your repeated defense of cape henry and Pete...i happened to have had the privledge of competing against Pete in both basketball and baseball. Pete does throw the ball very hard and i won't argue his 90's velocity but his off speed stuff has always been a great question with him. Any improvement?
P4R- I am a supporter of baseball in general and have been a supporter of Cape Henry in particular, although not exclusively. Defense is called for when truthfulness is challenged! Pete has struggled with development of the off speed, as many young pitchers do.I believe he has been working on a splitter, and has greatly improved his curveball. He barely threw one in high school, and I think Coach Eason has taught him the importance of the off speed out pitch at the next level. He is a work in progress, with a ways to go. As I said in the previous post, velocity is not everything-you have to throw strikes and strikes for outs! But velocity gets your foot in the door.
I wanted to reiterate that Pete has developed tremendously in the last 6 months. And I highly doubt the gun was reading 81-84 in the state tournament game. Just 2 weeks prior against Norfolk Academy in the TCIS semi-finals Pete was throwing 88-91. Hitting 90 in the 4th inning, not to mention throwing from the stretch(by choice). Pete's worked hard on his change-up and either that slider/splitter whatever he's throwing now. He has stepped up and put himself in a great position for June already or even a Div 1 transfer.
impartialbut,
i am sure the dancing community and the 10-15 scouts showing up at each recital were saddened with their loss. with that said, i would like for you to give pete my regards when you next go to visit for parents weekend. i want you to know that i support pete in every endeavor, whether baseball or ballroom dancing.-dont get jealous zaine i support you too <3
