If you had to choose between attending the Plainfield/ Stevenson showcase or Stanford camp, which direction would you go?

My response could go either way. I'll take the (Flipper) bait and then I won't:

After 4 interesting pages, Coach B pretty much put an end to the conversation...
or,
2. If you already registered for Stanford, you can do both as Stevenson is June 19 & 20 and Stanford is June 25-28.
Don't know the dates of Plainfield to know if there is a conflict.

So many variables. What kind of player are you? Where do you hope to end up? Being invited to Stevenson/Plainfield says a lot about the kind of player you are locally, but how would you compete on a larger scale?

If it doesn't conflict with Stevenson or Plainfield, go! Cheap travel, beautiful part of the country, lots of baseball present besides D1. I wish we sent our son just for the experience, but passed it up two years in a row.
Go to Stanford if you can get in. There is no way to get better exposure for D-I and D-III opportunities than to make the investment to get out and to be seen. It is likely too late to get into the Stanford Showcase now unless by a special invite. Attending the Stanford Showcase led to many invitations which eventually led to an academic/athletic opportunity at a top school.
Parents and Players must understand that they need to get themselves to where the coaches are to get the desired exposure. The player also has to market themself as a viable student athlete. That is just how it works. A critical self evaluation is also in order as a very small number of opportunities exist to play collegiate baseball. For most players it is not an automatic to get the opportunity to play collegiate baseball. It takes a lot of planning and effort.

DM - your recommendation to attend the Stanford camp isn't really specific to that camp. The question is Stevenson/Plainfield or Stanford. Both offer exposure to colleges at all levels. Both showcase your athletic ability as well as your academic achievements. Stanford may sound like a "bigger" deal, but in my mind, you can't beat the Stevenson/Plainfield opportunity for the majority of local players.
Agree My3sons. If Stanford conflicts with Stevenson or plainfield I would go to Stevenson or PLainfield. The exposure is huge from all levels.
How about the difference in money. Stevenson is under $100.00.

Mine too. Some people are under the mistaken impression that the more money spent the better. Stevenson was LOADED with coaches and scouts, well organized and cheap ($85.00 I believe).
Or, you could go to Italy.
BTW, Congrats are due to Coaches Alexander, Montez and Krause as the Dolphins earned an NCAA bid by winning their conference championship game yesterday with a 4-run 9th. Selection process can be seen on ESPN in about an hour. Congratulations to all the college teams receiving bids.

#2 and #3 attended the Stevenson showcase and both got plenty of interest and made contacts that ended in baseball/academic match ups that we are all happy with.
DM suggests - get yourself to where the coaches are to get the almighty "exposure". I agree. But rest assured, there will be plenty of coaches at Stevenson and Plainfield... Harvard, Yale, Bucknell, Cornell and even Grinnell. They were all there.
The Stevenson showcase has a great reputation amongst recruiting coaches. They know that if you are there, you're a player who is looking to continue playing in college and you're a player who coaches who know you believe has the ability to do so. And it's close to home. And it's cheap. And they serve really good hamburgers. What more could you want?!?

Can anyone tell me if the same is true of Plainfield? We hear very good things . . .
dollar for dollar you cant beat the stevenson,its by coach invite only so the kids are usually good,and its not just a kid with 200 bucks ..we had at least 6 colleges recruiting junior after the stevenson.there are div 1 schools and alot of d3 as well.ray foster runs a great event dont miss it.

Thanks - we live in Rockford so our players are invited to participate in Plainfield - not Stephenson. I was hoping someone could tell me if Plainfield is as highly regarded as Stephenson.
Yes...same college coaches attend both Stevenson and Plainfield
I cant comment on Stanford as I have not been there. My son was invited to Stevenson last year and if one is invited I would not pass it up. The scouts where everywhere watching the games and you cant beat the price. It was VERY well run and great exposure for all the players. From this he was also selected to play on a team in Plainfield and there where lots of scouts there but I thought more at Stevenson. We have been all over (East Cobb Etc) and the only place I have seen more scouts at a event was at Jupiter in October.
