Thank you all for the kind works. My intent wasn't really to bring attention to Jeff.....but more to communicate the feelings we experienced when it was over......maybe I'll open another topic sometime....I know Robert and LHPDAD and others are feeling the same emotions.
Ringer1, congratulations to your son as well. He was there for his team all weekend.....great heart and effort.
Ringer -- in response to your comment -- I have never blamed an ump for a game's result in his 4 years at East (I did that once when my oldest son was there when I was young and didn't know better)
but the umpiring crew yesterday was weak. It is obvious that they are not used to 4-man crews and they didn't know how to position themselves to make calls.....and fell asleep too often because they were not constantly moving. The home plate ump was just bad. In game 3....when the pitching is weaker, why adopt a postage stamp strike zone? Let's just say both coaches felt like he had a "bad" day.....and I doubt that he calls the next series for Rowlett. With that said (just an opinion), the umps did not determine the outcome.
Several kids had very good days. Hamlin crushed the ball.....Emens was 5-8 with 3 doubles....Snider had a 2B and 2 HR, one an absolute BOMB!....Loy was on base all day....Smith played great D....the Eagles catcher blocked balls all day long.....their outfielder's had key hits....Derek Bell pitched good enough to win yesterday's game 1 and he had 2 key doubles in game 2.....team efforts on both sides. Rowlett is the better team. The better team won.
In game 3, Rowlett led 7-0 after 2, then found themselves behind 14-9 after 3.5 before battling back. There were 17 runs scored in the 4th inning. It was crazy.
Pantherdad enters a new era
I just wish it was a fews weeks from now. Hey, maybe I'll become.....controversial.
