Coach English from Coppell?
So, do you think the same suspects that went after the Coppell job will go after the West job. Even though Coppell had a much better season last year than what Clark was able to do with West.
Wonder if the drawn out process that Coppell put eveyone through will keep some applicants from going through the stress of having their names all over message boards and having to answer questions where they work again.

Plano West did start 4 Sophomore's this past year and 2 of them were All-District....
Sounds like there was a good list at Coppell. Maybe someone might want to contact some of the leftovers. They probably won't apply unless they are contacted. Hardball made some good points.
Plano ISD sure has strong history for promoting within some good guys on staff but West is a great job... in every sport...and there will be some top HCs interested although not likely Yeager or Pirtle...be interesting to see what happens

pretty silent about this situation - has anyone heard anything about the open Plano West job? they have tremendous booster club support
Would like to see them hire OUTSIDE the system this time. New blood in the organization, new perspectives, may be a very good thing.

Yeah, but only one was a viable candidate for this honor -- the other three, well were just okay. Questioned their abilities to hold their position on varsity.

No need to start naming any names. PW was in a rebuilding year and short on Senior talent. The most beneficial move for their coach was to get the younger players some Varsity experience. Which he did and I am sure it will pay off in the next couple of years.

5A schools as large as they have in PISD should always have senior talent, shouldn't they?
I rhink the post says short on senior talent, not no senior talent. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but in a district of all 5A teams of similar size, doesn't someone have to finish first and someone else have to finish last? Isn't the last place team always "shorter" on talent than the first?

From talking to people, I understand that Plano West only had 3 seniors who started. Although they had a young team, the biggest problem was the lack of consistency with their pitching staff. They had lost their top 3 pitchers from the year before. Arguably their top pitcher, one of the 3 seniors, did not even pitch as a junior.
Congratulations to Don English on getting the Plano West job! Coppell and West just switched jobs. Strange, but true! Happy for Don!

Yes, the 5A team has a lot of talent - seniors to sophomores. talent lost within the terrible choices last year. glad Clark is gone!
