Martin and Plano West played a doubleheader at Air Hog stadium. The first game was a great pitching duel that Martin edged out. Wilehelm pitched a great game for Martin as did Walsh for PW. PW did manage to get 2 runs on 2 hits while Martin pounded out 10 hits but only managed to get 4 runs. Great game to watch at a beautiful park.
The second game was another pitching duel until the last two innings. Martin squeezed out two runs in the 1st inning on 1 hit. After that, PW's Walsh settled down and shut the door on the Warriors 3 2/3 innings before being replaced with Ellis. Once Ellis entered the game Martin began the hitting barage and pounded out 6 hits and 5 runs in 2 innings. Rucker pitched a good game on his birthday. Stewart Person replaced Rucker to begin the 6th inning. Person then proceeded to stikeout 5 of 6 batters he faced in the 6th and 7th and shut the door on the PW.
All in all it was a great park, wonderful weather, and two good teams playing two great games. The surprising part was Martin replaced 5 starters with 5 bench players in the 2nd game and was still able to keep up where they left off in the first game. I was really glad to see Martin play well on saturday after losing a heartbreaker to Mansfield HS on Friday night. Martin is now 20-8 with two games left to play.
