Went to a couple of games yesterday afternoon and evening. Noticed some new faces in the crowd mainly being other districts coaches. Since the coaches are speculating on protential matchups. I think you really smart baseball people could help me decipher though playoff bracket. What district plays against what district? Protential matchups we could see as of todays standings.

Here is a link to the UIL website for the format.

UIL Playoff Bracket

W=District Winner
R=District Runner-up
T=Third Place Team In District.

This is for 1A-4A. You can find the 5A playoff bracket on the site as well. 4 teams from each district make the playoffs in 5A instead of 3 in the other classifications.

This may not help you much, but it's a good source for info on the playoff format.

Good luck to all the teams battling for a spot.
You didn't disappoint -- unfourtunately, or fortunately, we are a kinder, gentler message board and there's no one from NF that will talk a little smack with you. I suppose a few teams have to take care of business before the Friday showdown. Smile Pretty decent play by your SS against Sachse on the Channel 8 Sports review --- that kid can play!
Well, we know his old man is a bit of a lump. Cool

Ok, the one-day dog-pile on my friend Darren Loy is over. (Beast started it!) Darren is a great guy....a former Seminole JC, UT, and Texas Ranger catcher. I can see B following in his footsteps.

Darren, Janet, Bryce, & Pam -- hope to see you guys in the playoffs -- the regional finals if you don't mind. Smile

These aren't set yet but if Coppell beats FM then the match-up is flip-flopped.

Why would that be the case? FM and Coppell would be tied included head to head. As I understand it, tie breakers are determined in each district prior to the start of the season. I think the options are a coin flip or playing one game to determine 1 and 2.
Not even close between the 2 teams the way I see it.
Even if CG was back healthy the 2 don't even matchup. Pitch around Kaskow and Green, Coppell has nothing. FM puts too much pressure on defenses by being aggressive on base paths. Example: Runner on second,batter bunts to right side,catcher throws to 1st,runner scores with no play at the plate.
Predetermined that the runner wasn't stopping at 3rd. Fun team to watch and I imagined fun style to play. FM kids just look like there having fun playing the game.
Agree that last night declared that FM is the elite 5A club in the metroplex this year. They play the game right, and do a lot of little things well. Definitely don't beat themselves with dumb mistakes. Put a ton of pressure on opposing defenses and force you to make errors.

Not to say that Coppell doesn't have a good ballclub. There's a lot to work with there. They just didn't execute and FM beat them up. I think that with a healthy CG that ballgame is much closer, however, Coppell doesn't do the small things that FM does, and no matter who was throwing against FM, don't think Coppell can beat those guys.

That's the first time I've seen Kettler since last summer, and man he's a special kid. I know that NP is apparently going to Mississippi State for FM and hes a very good player, but I am not so sure that he was the best Shortstop in that game last night...

Agreed that FM runs the bases very well and deserved to win. Their defense and pitching are strong to go along with good hitting and baserunning. Just one correction on the facts though in your example above. The first baseman threw the ball back to home and there was a play at the plate and it was very close one. FM did have a couple of outs on the basepaths a couple of calls that could have gone either way. Sometimes that kind of baserunning can backfire.
NT

Kettler is a very fine athlete with great protential but to compare him to NP its a little soon to make that comparison. NP does all the little things
that go unnoticed in baseball and thats a shame. NP won't play ss at Miss ST and I think he knows that but Coach Polk hasn't been around 35 years for nothing. He has an oppurtunity that every kid dreams of.

YOU GO BOY.................
