Amen. Save the marketing for college. High school ball is full of washouts from "child-star" (pre-highschool) days, because of the differences in growth amongst these kids. Here's the stats on my own son's travel team: 14 guys, 6 still playing highschool ball, 3 have migrated to other sports. Of the 6 left, 2 are fat, 1 is injured, 1 is on JV, 1 transferred to a B school, and 1--that's my son who did a lot of subbing and was the smallest on the travel team--is the ace of the highschool staff. Please, let nature take its course.. the coach will know the players.

HS coaches have to take those players that are in the schools district...so it doesn't matter.

Jr. summer, I did our select teams "Media Guide" on 18 players...bio on each players, including personal goals HS info, colleges interested in (or Conferences more importantly), sat's, awards, showcases, photo (color), seen by "Mr. xyz" proscouts with phone numbers, parent contact info, select coach bio & contact info, etc. Had it bound @ Office Depot. We distributed about 225 that summer @ several WWBA tournaments, Area Code, Omaha Tournament during College World Series, showcases for certain players...had great results! And, the parents liked it as a memento!
I agree that you don't need a "media guide" to send to HS coaches. I have heard where a coach sent a reasonably short e-mail to the HS coach listing his players and a high level description on where the team (not the individuals) played and any sucesses. The biggest point to the HS coach was a bunch of parents who are willing to help out and more importantly stay out of the way. I cant swear if it helped or not but on day 1 the coach knew us all.
