I could post this in every category but I'd like to ask it as a general question, and take it from there.

I'm sure everyone had heard that mechanically, everyone is different because everyone's body is built differently. So you shouldn't try and copy someone else because it may not be the best way for another person to perform a certain skill (be it hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, etc.).

My question is- how do you know what is the best way for any single player to do anything?
Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is just a hole in Arizona. -George F. Will

Find someone who you believe knows what they are doing. In my experience, it's someone who's played professional baseball.

Let them look at you and determine what is the best stance, arm slot, position, etc. for you.

I've had friends ask me to teach their son to hit like mine. I can't. First of all, because I can't. I have no idea what I'm doing.

But more importantly, each player has their own unique body and style and they must develop what works for them.

Think of Joe Morgan, Craig Counsel, Pete Rose, Kent Tekulve. You don't see too many players emulating their exact style but it sure worked for them.

......when it gets positive results.
A player may succeed at one level despite being fundamentally unsound. Then he gets to the next level and can't compete. Sometimes positive results are not enough.
