The Diamond Dawg Baseball Club is expanding. The Summer of 2008 is upon us and we are introducing the newest part of our travel organization, the Mid-Atlantic Mets.

Below is information on the program and details about an informational meeting.

What is this team and it’s purpose?

- This is a 17/18u travel baseball team (and possibly a 16u team) dedicated to providing the opportunity to perform and display baseball players at a collegiate caliber summer baseball level. It’s purpose will be to nurture and develop the higher level ball player as well as exposing them to better competition and college scouts all within the parameters of a typical baseball team. We will showcase the baseball player while trying to win and provide an opportunity for each player to take their game to the next level.

Where is the team based?

- Based out of Loudoun County, VA the team will hold most of its workouts at Briar Woods HS (Ashburn), Notre Dame Academy (Middleburg), and Stone Bridge HS (Ashburn).

Who is eligible to try-out/participate and where can they come from?

- 10th (rising 11th grade in summer ’08) and 11th (rising 12th grade in summer 2008) who are higher-caliber baseball players. Players are NOT required to reside in Loudoun County, VA. We accept players anywhere in the state of Virginia, as well as Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.


When will the season begin?

The season will last from June 1, 2008 until August 9, 2008 with an opportunity to continue in the fall program starting August 25, 2008.

- Dynamic Baseball Maryland Showcase Tourney (UMD)
- Dynamic Baseball VT & Radford Showcase Tourney
- Dynamic Baseball ODU, Virginia Wesleyan and CNU
- Roanoke Baseball Showcase Tourney
- Beast of the East (Wheeling, WV)
- Triple Crown Summer Nationals (Myrtle Beach, SC)
- PG Mid-Atlantic Regional
- Possible 16u USSSA States, 16u WWBA, 18u WWBA, 17u WWBA

What are the requirements for being a part of this program?

- You must have played Varsity baseball for your high school program. (Starter on JV for 16u)
- You must have a strong recommendation from your high school baseball coach
- You must be willing to travel every weekend (at your own cost) from the end of your high school season until the first week of August. You also must be able to get to a minimum of 2 week long tournaments
- Local players must be able to participate in 2 ODL games during the week, one “pre-game” practice and one “team workout.”


How to I become a part of this opportunity?

Step 1: Contact Coach Dan Gitzen @ dan@ddawgs.org or 703-963-8492. Notify him of your intention to attend the informational meeting. PLEASE HAVE THE ATHLETE PRESENT AND ONLY 1 PARENT.

Step 2: Attend the informational meeting @ Ashburn Library on December 1st @ 2:00 pm.

Step 3: Submit a “Baseball resume” that includes:
- Contact information
- Personal player information
- Baseball experience
- Baseball reference numbers

Details:

After the meeting we will take the time over the next month to review your resumes’ and receive player commitments. After that time we will hold an open try-out in early March @ Notre Dame Academy in Middleburg, VA in order to fill-out our roster.

Any questions had at that time will be answered in a Q&A session at the end of the meeting.
