TG - night games in the fall are just as brutal. That's when you buy hot chocolate or spiced cider just so you can hold the cup to warm up your fingers. Still love it though. Car stays packed with the baseball essentials year round - chairs, blankets, mittens, hats. I'm ready to watch and cheer. CoachC, Any chance you can call off the rain?
Ken,

THe AAU team my son just made (got the call last night ) plays in the GSBA (which is the Granite State Baseball Association) in the fall and it is a wood bat league. It was a plus factor in our decision to go out for this particular AAU team. Should be a big help in learning to hit properly and to work on fundamentals in the field.

In fact our 12U step up team played the current 13U AAU team last night and they were using their wood bats against us.
the same reason golfers use the tytonium 700 cc headed driver, and not persimon. more forgiving and the ball travels farther. but as a baseball fan and coach/parent who wants his kid to become a better hitter, wood is better.

if it's a weapon your looking for your way wrong,i'll take the gun everytime, lol,
20dad,

Ok now we really are dating ourselves aren't we...Persimmon??? I saw that and just had to reply.

My college roommate was an excellent golfer and he had a persimmon driver back in.....1978.

It is an interesting discussion though, a great many of us believe the game would be better all around by going back to wood, but that talk is rarely if ever brought up around a golf course. I think a big part of that comes from the fact that the professional golfers are using the same technology that you & I can use if we are willing to pay for it. That is not the case in baseball where the HS and college players are the ones using the most advanced technology.

I hope your enjoying the fall ball. Are you coaching at all?

It is still a bit strange to me that we are spending our time in the gyms now and not on the diamond.

KmomNH,

How are things with the new house?

Is your son doing well at HB?...How is his pitching doing?....and how is the college search proceeding?

We just go back last week from celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversay. It was really strange having 85 degree weather in Lincoln, ME in October. Matt was out playing golf with my dad in shorts.

TG,

What years were you in college? I was at Maine from 78-82 and the team did go to the CWS all 4 years. Sorry ... had to get that Black Bear Alumni shot in. That Coach (John Winkin) is STILL coaching. He is at Husson now.
NHFD - You have a PM on the personal stuff, so I don't have to bore other folks with it. BTW - another former Grizzlie is headed to FPU to join Pearson and Skeffington. Griz website says Corey Muscara is transferring over from Sienna. Website also indicates AJ Bazdanes, who played for TCB this past summer and the Grizzlies the summer before has verbally committed to U Maine. More NH boys getting it done Smile
tr
that looks like a blast.
