Any predictions out there? This could get real good if the parity that was this season, continues in the tournament. Before my picks I would like to comment on the schedule and pitching rules this year. Giving the top teams the opportunity to start thier ace a possible 3 out of four games is insanely stupid. this tournament has always been about pitching depth and to take that out of the equation is wrong on so many different levels. You don't need 3 weeks to play 4 games. The chance to play at Fisher Cat is great but I personally could care less' Holman is just as good a venue for HS baseball.Sounds like money is the deciding factor. OK on to the games,

Concord over South - I think this game could be closer than people think if Christie or Maloney can control, personally I would throw Maloney, off speed always gives teams fits.
North over Dover - one word , Mellin
Merrimack over Alvirne - one word, Hudon
Upset special.. Salem over Memorial - call sign is devildad, Duh.
Pinky over Timby - I know Jake has been great, but he is only a sophmore and quite frankly I don't think he is a shutdown ace. Pinky has some experience and always seems to give someone a headache in the first round.
Exeter over Spaulding - no idea why, just a guess
BG over Winni - Think big Joe is gonna shut Winni down and as long as they don't play hippity hop with the ball BG should be OK.
Londoderry over Trinity - Trinity does have some pitching depth but in a 1 game scenario I will go with either Kinnon or Moloney. I would prefer Kinnon, I have made no secret how great a player and young man he is.. real class act.

these blogs have been pretty quiet and boring this season, C'mon guys it's the playoffs.

I agree on North, BG, Merrimack & Concord. Pinkerton lost to Timby already, Head Coach is questionable & is on his way out. Look out for the Astro's next season. A new Varsity Coach & some VERY Strong pitching from the JV team this year. I would love to see Salem beat Memorial but they have been solid all season. Memorial can beat anybody with all their Pitching at the ready. They may struggle in the 2nd round if they lose a few arms after game 1. I think Londonderry over Trinity. I'm not sold on Trinity's pitching, Although I only saw them once against Concord & it was not close (12-3). Londonderry however gave Concord a game (3-2). If you put a gun to my head I would take Concord to win it all with BG as my longshot.
Concord over South. Saw both teams only once. In looking at South, it you take away 4 wins, 3 vs. non-tournament teams and Exeter, they score 2.5 runs per game. I don't think they can get it done vs. #1.

North over Dover. Saw the 1-0 North victory. Saw Lupe pitch effectively vs. Mellin back in April. Do not think Dover can pull off the upset.

Merrimack over Alvirne. Another 1-0 regular season game. Alvirne only 3-12 vs. tournament teams. Merrimack on a roll, winners of 10 straight. Averaging 4.2 runs per game but giving-up only 2.2.

Salem over Memorial. Salem winners of 6 out of 8. Memorial 9 out of 11. Salem lost 2-0 @ Memorial earlier this month. I will still call for the upset.

Timberlane over Pinkerton. Pink has lost 6 out of 8 down the stretch. (I removed the West game) and during that tim have been outscored 21-45. Timb has won 10 out of 12 to close out the regular season.

Exeter over Spaulding. Exeter 5 out of 6 down the stretch.

BG and Joe M. over Winny.

Londonderry over Trinity. Good pitching, solid team. 8-1 winners at Trinity two weeks ago.
I agree with you Rick Vaughn. I don't think we are going to see any baseball played this weekend. Hopefully the NHIAA will smarten up and move the Semi's back too. Nine days between the Semis and the finals is ridiculous.

If the games are going off tomorrow where is everyone heading? I am leaning towards Holman for BG v. North. I will again be tweeting via the hash tag #nhiaabaseball. I love hearing about scores from all around the state and divisions.
Shawn, keep us posted. I'm surprised at the pitching rotation. At least it will be both teams doing it, so one team doesn't regret their decision. I had assumed that all teams playing today in D1, D2, and D4 would all go back to their aces. I guess not. It will be interesting to see what other teams do.

I still think Pembroke will throw Autrey Gates. Their facing the #1 seed, they don't score a lot of runs, and their ace is a true ace. I think they have to go with Gates. Nothing against their #2, but I think its Andrew Houde who is a freshman with 4 starts under his belt. I guess we'll see tonight.
