I am watching the Toronto/TB game. The pitcher-- EJ Happ-- got hit by a comebacker that looks horrible. He is moving his hands, but he was bleeding out the ears. Players on both sides are somber.

I pray is ok. I pray the MLB will enforce head protection for pitchers with college and HS to follow.
Crazy scene. Per ESPN:
The Blue Jays said the pitcher was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was alert and undergoing tests, manager John Gibbons said.
Nursing supervisor Natasha Keller told The Associated Press that Happ had been admitted to the hospital and was in stable condition.
Last night I was having dinner with 2 pitchers (one who has been in the big leagues for years). Both pitchers have been hit in the face...one in MLB, the other in college. They had quite a conversation about all of this and I know they sent some prayers and well wishes Happ's way.
My prayers are with him as well.
Happ is out of the hospital. He said he feels fine. The blood wasn't coming out of his ear. His ear got cut on the play.
Thank God.I was scared when they said blood was coming from his ear.So glad he is ok.
I had read he hurt his knee on the play as well and was on crutches leaving the hospital yesterday. Definitely a scary scene. Now I'm hearing conflicting reports as to severity of head injury. One place I read said "contusion, no concussion" while another said "skull fracture."
ESPN reports:
Less than 24 hours after he was hit on the head by a line drive and carted off the field, the Toronto Blue Jays pitcher was back at Tropicana Field on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old said he had a skull fracture behind his left ear that doctors believe will heal on its own, as well as a sore right knee that he tweaked when he dropped to the ground Tuesday night.
Sorry-- I was just observing what I saw. Didn't really realize how that sounded until you pointed it out. I was nervous as I was watching-- for him and his family. It was scary watching as it happened, but glad things seem to be turning out for him.
Was reading up on this just after it happened, and oddly enough, right at the same time i was reading through a few topics on head protection for pitchers. Very glad to hear that JA is going to be fine, head injuries are always scary.
