Here in Maine most teams pitching staff is made up of entirely position players. How do you work pitching workouts into your practice schedule? Workout before or after practice? Workout during practice? How do you handle overworking arms? Been doing this for a while but wanted to see what everyone else does. Thanks for any input.

I don't work pitching workouts into my practice. I schedule my practice AROUND my pitching workouts. If an infielder misses some of his individual defense station, so be it! It takes a commitment to doing it this way and a solid coaching staff. I handle my pitchers, so I have to trust that my assistants are handling the other aspects of practice while I'm in the bullpen.
Agree with JMW in that the pitching has to take precedence over the other stuff. When it's their time for a bullpen they stop whatever it is they are doing and work on that. To save on the wear and tear on arms I won't let them throw in fielding drills or IF / OF in practice. They take the ground ball / fly ball and toss to another player for the throw to wherever or back into the coach.

I think most HS teams everywhere have most of the pitchers also playing other positions. That just seems to be the nature of the beast. So just to get the best answer to your question, I’d like to know if you’re talking about pitchers who also sub at some other position, are the primary backup at some other position, or are the starter at some other position when they don’t pitch.

I’d also like to know if you’re talking about all teams in the program, or only the V. Typically out here, there are very very few POs on the Fr or JV teams, so they are all in your position. My son is the PC on a JV team here, and they do very little more during the season, than to have a short pen for pitchers during practices. When I say short, I mean a warm-up and maybe 10-15 pitches at most. Much more common, is having pitchers do pen during games.

With reentry, its not at all unusual to see a player/pitcher hit, throw during the defensive half of the inning, then go back in the next inning. The other pitchers generally head off to the pen with the backup catcher and the PC to throw for a bit.
