The Va State Junior Legion Tournament was held @ Riverbend HS ... same place as the Va State SENIOR Tournament last week! And, WOW, what a tournament this one was!!! This tournament was quite unique by the fact of being reduced to a SIX-team bracket due to the HOST team & District 13 team being unable to appear! Post 280 became 1st time champs on their 4th consecutive appearance ('12 & '13 @ RF&P Park + '14 @ Shepard Stadium) ... CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Mike Johnson, Coach Larry Bowles & Coach Jason Willwerth for a job well done! With DOUBLE-HEADERS on TUESDAY & THURSDAY, and winning 2 out of 3 against South Richmond, this team won FIVE out of SIX for their championship trophy ... that's a SUPER (and rare) performance by any team in any tournament!!! I'm very proud of this team & privileged to have been able to witness their awesome achievement!
I believe that Post 280 was almost entirely from Oscar Smith HS. Another indication that the growth there is continuing as they make the move toward contender.
