My son attended a camp for a D1 team that was in need of 2-3 players for his position and recommended he attend...he performed well running 3.2-3.3 stealing (they timed this at this camp). His outfield throws were online and carried...only person able to make the throw to home 270+ on a line no bounce (catcher didn't even have to move). Made a diving catch and hit well in cages once he warmed up...

He's a good kid with a go getter attitude and good grades no issues there

He had previous contact with the coaches and recommendations from coaches who knew the college staff...

How soon would we expect to hear something?  What is the best and most respected way to inquire without seeming pushy so he can move on if needed?

Other coaches have been calling and emailing in the meantime but this school is high on his list.

My two cents.....Congrats on your son's showcase performance.  You are at the "interest" stage with these coaches.  You want to get to the "serious interest"  or "offer" stage.   You need to be playing offense not defense.

Your son's actions need to be happening in parallel.  In other words, don't wait for a school/coach to respond until you have multiple offers in hand.   Your son should not be waiting for that top choice school to contact him.  He needs to phone and email them right away to follow up and re-assert his interest in the school and the program.  Hopefully an offer comes, but it may not and you need to be ready to move to Plan B quickly.

Second, don't wait for ANY school to respond in order for you to talk to another school.  Your son needs to be "talking" to all coaches (at all times) to see what their schools/programs need and what they have to offer.  The more interest in your son the more leverage he has with regards to potential scholarship money or any possible admissions preference for high academic schools.

JMO....Good luck!

Fenwaysouth, as usual, is very correct!  Don’t wait! My 2015 was waiting around for a school to contact him after he attended their camp.  Coach said he would get back to him in a week and never did.   He then called the coach and email, several times,  asking directly if there would be an offer because he had to respond to other school’s deadline.  Coach ultimately said ”we are waiting for No 1 to decline before we offer you”.  Got lucky that we had an honest coach! At least my 2015 knew where he stood and moved on.

Thanks guys

That approach is similar to what we are doing...he has some D3 offers coupled with nice academic scholarship packages already in the bag...

Just over the last couple weeks he is getting a lot of email traffic from some D1 schools (some which say they have seen him play) as well as several more D3 schools asking him to come visit...

I think the fall signings drives some of this (not getting their commits)

The typical is a D3 asked for him to come visit so they can decide if the school is a good fit and the D1s all ask him to come to camp...

I suggested he call all of them and talk and get a feel for the needs of each program and what their interest level is in him (or if they really even know who he is)
