In Southern WI we've had up to 21 inches of snow today with blizzard conditions. From what I've heard hundreds of cars and over 1000 people on the interstate outside Madison have been at a dead stop since the early afternoon with windchills in the single digits. The National Guard has been called in for rescues and snowmobile clubs are now transporting gas and food to the stranded. I have two cars in my driveway and they are both drifted over, like there not there, and I haven't seen a car on a road since mid-day. I've lived in the State for 51 years and never witnessed a whiteout sun-up to sun-down. We've had 80 inches of snow this winter and usually average 30 with Feb and March statistically the snowiest months. We Wisconsinites are a hardy bunch without a whine, but our sick and elderly who are stranded could use a good thought from you all.

The terrible tornados have taken much away from the terrible snowstorms in the north.

I am watching the weather channel from Milwaukee, 9 years since they have seen such terrible snow and weather. It looks brutal.

What have we done to mother nature to make her so furious?

Prayers to everyone who has been affected by this terrible february weather.

They missed the storm. The Gov just declared a State of Emergency for Dane and Rock Counties. In our area they're putting the storm in the top 5 since 1911. The news just announced that the interstate traffic is starting to move after an 11 hour standstill that was backed up 19 miles. Can you imagine stuck in a car for 11 hours, single digit windchills, 35 mph winds, and visibility less than 1/8 of a mile. The only consolation is that there was 19 miles of cars in the same boat.

And this is all that you have with you...

"Your mission, rz, should you decide to accept it, incredible as it seems, is to not go stark raving mad over the course of the next eleven grueling and tortuous hours.

As always, should you or any member of your carpool be caught misbehaving or spilling buttermilk on the upholstery, the Wisconsin Secretary of State will revoke your driving privileges indefinitely.

This tape, and unfortunately for you, not that insipid Raffi CD, will self-destruct in five seconds...or approximately five minutes before you do the same!"
