The Prep Baseball Report is a nice magazine promoting high school baseball across Illinois, however, who ever does their team and player rankings needs to their homework a little more.
- Trace Capps-C Bloom Township left off the Class of 2008 top prospect list.
Trace batted over .400 with 8 doubles on the varsity last year as a freshmen. He is 1.8 to second base. He is 6'3" 190 He did that in only 52 at bats. Definately a college/pro prospect.

- Leaving one south suburban school out of the top 50
With the talent this team has, they should be ranked in the top 25, let alone top 50.
Can you figure it out?

Ranking the 2008 class is a difficult thing to do. Not every top 08 played varsity last season. This can be for a number of reasons. One of the biggest being that some schools don't bring freshman up to varsity. I have had the oppritunity to see many of the top 08's and I can think of a handfull that would be deserving of a PBR top 10 ranking. That being said, for anyone who has seen these 08's that PBR has recognized, there is no denying that they are all excellent players. I am especially a fan of SS/RHP Sean Flanagan(PBR's #3).Capps sounds like a terrific talent and with a solid season should be a top Junior next season. With his size and that 1.8 pop time (as a freshman) will get him noticed really fast!
Roll on over to the team capsules thread and post a little information, then. If they should be a top 25 team - you ought to have plenty of information.

As far as the PBR is concerned: Bloom's coach needs to submit some information.

On the other hand - listing Mike McQuillan (for example) in the overall class report, but not even including him on the "Sophomores to Watch" is strange.

Why don't you list your top 50 teams IN THE STATE, and throw together a list of the top 50 players in each class, too?

Stealing bases in the Major Leagues is going to become much more difficult in a few years with the glut of catchers with pop times of 1.80 or less coming from the Chicago area alone. Bumper crop! Next thing will be players under 6 seconds to first.

lololololol, Fast.

Similar to what was written here a few years ago...

When you go see the kids play, they have an "off" day. When you see them a second and third time, the "off day" syndrome persists.

If you're throwing 1.8 as a HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN, EVERYONE IN THE WORLD KNOWS ABOUT YOU.

Re the sub 6.0 / 60's...That is a story for another day and another time.
Coach B,

I'm sure you do! I've waited a long time to see these phenoms who throw 1.8 before they shave and the world class sprinters who require a new, special laser timer not yet invented. Beenthere is soooo right. When the season begins the pop times get worse and the 6.6 guys are now 7.3. Some things never change.
