My son played for a team in this organization the last couple of years - and the competition and organization of the events was second to none.

Congrats to Ryan Brewer and the Albuquerque Baseball Academy for being voted in this past year. He's a great guy with a classy group of players.

Old School.... I didn't say every quality team in North America was in this group. I said that all their events were well run and the competition was outstanding.

And what I failed to mention was all of the teams we played against, from this group, had quality coaches in their dugout. And what I mean when I say "quality" is that they seem to run their teams professionally, put the kids and the game first, egos were gone and noone was chasing trophies.

Apparently I struck a nerve.....
My son has played in these Premier events for a couple of years now. I can tell you that there is nothing premier about it. The vast majority of these teams cannot compete with the big boys. They aren't event the best teams in the area. The funniest part of this group is that they very rarely let other strong teams in their tournaments. The tournament director picks and chooses who he wants to let in.

I did see some good coaching from several teams, but that has nothing to do with Premier. I saw one coach throwing up behind a dugout and then joke with a dad about a "late night". This also has nothing to do with Premier.

I am thankful for my son's coach. I may not agree with him all of the time but I think he does his best. He has helped him become a better player. This is more important than playing in a watered down members only club.

I think you're missing my point. Some of the teams are good. Some of the teams are average at best. Some are well below average.

Being a member of Premier has nothing to do with any player getting drafted. A player gets drafted on his tools/ability, not on what jersey he wears.

I looked at your list of impressive players. It's quite misleading. Of the players you listed as drafted in 2011, how many of those guys actually played for those teams last year? Of the players listed, how many of the players actually played a full season on those teams? How many just played a game or one tournament? I get a kick out of seeing teams list all of their amazing alumni drafted and signed. A great deal of the players played for more than one team or only made brief appearances.

I took a good look at your 1st rounders. Pretty misleading. According to their website, Premier was not founded til '04. I highly doubt Todd VanPoppel, Calvin Murray, Weiss, Wells, Tyner, Taylor and many others ever played in any Premier events. A few more errors: How many guys are Dallas Mustangs? How many guys are DBAT? I don't think they even merged til 4 years ago? Jason Jennings could not have wore a Titans jersey. They didn't field a team until a few years back. Didn't Gallardo play for the Blackhawks too?

I'm only giving the flip side of the equation. I am from the old school. I would like to see everyone focus on the players for a change. Lists like these do nothing but feed egos in my opinion.
quote:
Fungo... who are the "top programs" in your area? "Area" being say.... a 75 mile radius from your house?

He lives in Dallas, you do the math

First time poster, or poser, whatever you prefer Who is your son? What D1, did he sign with? What round will he go in the MLBAD?

Premier, has multiple meanings,,,,, more money, more egos. Not saying all, just mostWink

Half of the teams are from Texas. No teams from California, Florida or Georgia. REALLY, last time I checked, Cali and Florida, had more draft picks, than we did?
So, without teams from these regions, in essence, it's just a name.

Get a grip

OldSchool- I think you meant East Cobb Yankees - that's their "big boys."

Fungo- If Midland Redskins joined this group of teams, but changed their name to The Midland Redskins of Ohio, couldn't the GM of the team still claim Griffey Jr as an alum since he played for the Midland Redskins, just not the The Midland Redskins of Ohio? I think you are arguing red apples vs green apples....

Are the best teams in the country all involved in this group? No. Is it a pretty compeptitive group of ball clubs that at least all meet and play each other? Yes.

Are any of them Midland? No. Big Grin
Old School,

You must like playing those teams and think the competition is good since your small number of high school aged teams are in a lot of their tourneys.

Why spout off and try to down the league when you seem to play in their tourneys a lot?

Premiere is just a name just like Texas Showcase All-American or any of the other leagues out there.

I am pretty sure your costs are not significantly less than any of these other groups.

Not saying you dont offer a good product with the Gators, just dont understand your mouthing off when you obviously try to schedule your teams against teams from this league.
Will also interject further that obviously a lot of good players come from the Premiere league, but certainly not all.

Plus, I know for a fact that many of the players played for several different teams other than just the one premiere team listed for them.

Ben Grieve for instance played for the Arlington A's and the Dallas Mustangs.

Dylan Bundy played with OK Travelers at one time and DBAT.

There were a bunch of cross overs in the past, just like there are going to be in the present and the future. There will be a future drafted player (I am sure) that will have played for DBAT, Dallas Patriots and the Arlington A's during his high school years where all three organizations I am sure all three will claim him as a member of their organization.

Just saying the list is just a list and it is a way for the league and it members to promote themselves.

I am sure Old School would promote any players that had played for his organization on his web page just like these guys do to show past success and hope to attract for future paying recruits to their organization.

Esteban German???, Dillon Gee???? (who also played for the Arlington A's) Old School???? Wink
OldSchool- Your comment about "doing the math" doesn't make sense.

I asked him who HE thought was the top programs in HIS area. He lives in Dallas, so I gave him a 75 mile radius to pick top teams in HIS area??? What numbers need to be crunched in that?

I was eliminating Austin, San Antonio, Houston teams, so he would list HIS areas best.

Confused

Esteban German???, Dillon Gee???? (who also played for the Arlington A's) Old School????

Still bitter Shawn?
Not sure who, your speaking about with Esteban German? He never played with our program. As for Dillon, yes he played with the A's, as well as us.
The same could be said for Jeremiah Haar. Even though Haar only played a couple of weeks, during his Sophomore Summer with the A's, before he came over to our program. The A's still have him listed on their website, as one of their drafted players. Haar probably played about 10 total innings for them.

Unlike others. We do not list any player as an alumni, unless they play at least, one full season with us.

You might want to check your numbers Big Grin

It's simply leading down to the same road, that has been run about a half dozen times, over the past year, on this sight. See previous topics below:

Which Teams Will Get Your Kid Better??
Verdict???
Select Ball - Club Team/Independent Team??

Yours, is basically the same thread, under a different heading. In reality, I feel that your asking the wrong people. It's the players, that should answer these questions. Instead of coaches, parents and posers Wink

Still waiting on your response?

No?

The way you write it I believe to be true.

But if your saying that all the players listed played for a team that participated in the Premeir league, that would not be true.
