I was recruited by PC a few years ago, so I will give my thoughts on things. First, let me say that this was a period of transition with the coaching staff, as the RC at the time was attempting to make a comeback to pro baseball and was slowly phasing himself out. Coach Crocco was starting to handle the recruiting at the time, so my experience was a bit disorganized, which could very well not be how they operate today.

I really liked Coach Pollock. He is a very cool guy, good personality, and is fairly charismatic. I did not feel as though the team knew what direction they wanted to go in with recruiting, and seemed to be spreading out scholarship money as far as possible to bring in a lot of guys and then decide what type of team they wanted to be, which as I said earlier, could no longer be an issue.

This was their best year since I was recruited by them, so that's a plus. Should be on the rise, lot of younger guys, but still got smacked around in the Big South last year. If it wasn't for UNCA, PC would usually be the bottom feeder of the conference. I play a lot of guys in summer baseball from PC and they are generally talented guys. Everyone has similar builds, approaches and playing styles which leads me to believe they are more focused with the guys they want to recruit. ATHLETIC facilities are nice, but the baseball facility itself is only average. PC is a football school and they take care of them first, so baseball is not really a priority. Locker room is located away from the field, the batting cage is almost like a barn type of setup, it is indoor but very hot. The playing surface, score board, and landscape past the field is nice. If I remember correctly, the field is located off the side of a fraternity/sorority street, so I am sure it can be rowdy on weekend series if the team is any good.

Academics are fine, nothing to wow you, but not bad by any means. I like the Greenville area, and Clinton isn't too far. Not an ideal location, but could definitely be worse as far as that goes. I spent the day there with a few other recruits after meeting with the staff, touring, etc. and got to know a little bit about them. It just seemed fishy, consisting of a few guys who's parents were alumni, donors, etc. and none of those guys I met are still on the roster today even though a couple of them did end up committing there and attending PC as a freshman. At the time they were lobbying for facility improvements and guys with big wallets could have been targeted to help with that and then ended up being released once things didn't work out OR could've very well been targets of the RC who was leaving and just not been a fit once Crocco took the recruiting reigns full time.

As I said, this was a period of transition and after taking a step back in 2014, they made progress in 2015, so I am sure they have a more solid foundation and idea of what type of team they want to be than when I was recruited. PC is great for the right type of guy and if there is a fit there for your son, then by all means that is a solid place to go and continue playing baseball.

Let me say this as well - that upstate SC area has a few very strong D2 programs that are on the same level as Wofford, PC, Upstate and Furman. North Greenville made miraculous strides this season under a new head coach and Erskine could swing it with just about any mid-major in the country (though some of their offensive #'s are inflated considering they play nobody good out of conference).
