2013 has always showcased as RHP primary and MIF/OF secondary. He's the top pitcher on his high school team and one of the best in an average Midwestern conference. FB low 80's, really good off-speed stuff.

His lefty bat is what gets the attention and he's an excellent MIF and deveoping OF. The coaches who are expressing interest always note the bat first.

He has a few important showcases coming up this summer so we're wondering as we register if we should have RHP as secondary. It seems much more likely that he'll play as a position player, so shouldn't we register him that way?

Or, since he'll be participating as a hitter anyway, does it really matter since if they're interested they'll convert him into what they want, based on their needs?

What position does he want to play? If his bat gets him noticed that is where I'd focus. To play MIF in college at any level will require a lot of skill and speed/quickness. If he has that speed + quickness + the bat, he'll get noticed. I've seen quite a few high school MIFs converted into OFs in college, so don't be shocked if he gets the "OF question".

FWIW - Look at how many MIF are on a typical college roster, and then look to see how many P's. You'll quickly realize how difficult it is to a MIF in college nevermind a MIF who gets playing time.

Good luck.
If he's a higher prospect as a hitter, which it sounds like, I think he should go as a hitter first.
While he may be a productive high school pitcher, I don't think a 2013 throwing low 80's is going to immediately impress anyone.

And if he's already drawn more attention from hitting than pitching I think you have your answer.
