This is got to rank right up there with one of the best games I have ever seen. Osbourn really jump on Daniel Hudson with 3 in the 2nd and 5 unearned in the 3rd for a 8-0 lead. PA responded with a Jake McAloose 2 out 2 run double in the bottom of the 3rd. Daniel settled down and did not give up another hit until the 9th. In the bottom of the 5th Beamer Weams (after fouling off 3 consecitive 3-2 pitches) hit a 3 run shot over the left centerfield fence to cut the score to 8-5 and in the bottom of the 7th Dan helped his on cause with a 3 run bases loaded double down the leftfield line that tied the score up at 8 apiece. PA had a chance to win the game in the 8th and 9th innings when they loaded the bases with less than 2 outs but failed to come up with the big hit.Osbourn scored in the top of the 11th off Zach Woods but PA leftfielder Sam Harrison tied it up with a base hit to right center to knot it at 10 apiece. Osbourn scored again in the top of the 12th and in the bottom of the 12th with 2 outs, Alex Owens singled between 3rd and short and Beamer hit a 0-2 pitch to the leftfield corner that short hopped the fence and bounded away from the leftfielder for a double that scored Alex all the way from 1st base. Osbourn then intentionally walked Dan Hudson, Jake McAloose hit a pea to right center that scored Beamer and wow what a game 11-10. Congratulation to Coach Hunt and the PA Cavaliers. Group AAA State Champs!!!!!!

Philly fan,

Sure they have plenty of time to rest, but this is only high school baseball. Both of these pitchers have very bright futures ahead of them and state championship or not its not worth it. a high school baseball coach shouldn't leave the decesion up to the players, and a coach should know when its time to throw in the towel and think about a kids future rather than worrying about a game. if either of those kids had damage done to them that game and gotten seriously injured would it still be said that it was the right call and that "they have plenty of time to rest??" also it is games like these that breaks down a kids arm and is most likley hurtful to them in the long run. maybe thats why so many pitchers are getting tommy john surgery.
Thanks for the concern guys, but Hudsons' and Woods' arms are just fine. They rehabed the correct way after every start this year. A high school season is not like a 56 game college season. If an arm is taken care of, like their's were, and a kid has the physical make up, like they do, then a weekend like this past is no big deal. The only concerns were cramps due to heat and dehydration. (And how not to get to hurt at the celebration afterwards).
crasscutter, I don't know what your baseball background is but that is wrong totally wrong it has nothing to do with a 56 or 26 game schedule or how they conditioned all year. No one should throw 164 pitches in a game and no one should come back and pitch the next day after throwing probobly 90 plus pitches the day before. This is a total disregard for the two young mens arms. In the last week beginning with the PA vs FC regional championship PA's coaching staff focus has been totally on winning a state championship with a total disregard for the arms of the pitching staff. This was a case of win at all cost. I wonder how Coach Meyers from ODU felt about Hudson throwing 164 pitches? I do have to take my hat off to the player of PA they played as a team and deserved to win. I believe the best team won. Congratulations PA!!!
OK, you people need to stop criticizing something that you know nothing about. You don't know what happened or what was said in the dugout. If either Zach Woods or Daniel Hudson didn't want to pitch anymore, coach Hunt would have taken them out in a heartbeat, as he did when Zach was telling him his arm hurt in the regional championship. Daniel Hudson's arm felt fine, and to answer your question, the ODU coach was there watching the entire game. I'm sure he was impressed because Hudson threw 10 innings, and got stronger as the game went on. Makes him look like he can throw a complete game in college. If at any point, Hudson told coach Hunt that he wanted to come out of the game, he would have taken him out. And this I know for a fact because coach Hunt asked him several times between each inning if he wanted to come out or not or if he had any soreness at all. Both players had ice on their arms at the post game dinner an hour after the game. STATE CHAMPS!!!!
If you watched the game between PA and FC in the regional championship, you know that after Zach Woods and Dan Hudson---PA has very little in the way of pitching! I commend PA on their championship and I am glad a beach team brought home the trophy. Would like to add to whoever said that the beach was weak this year (Driller)---I think you need to eat your words!

Grasscutter- Congrats on a well deserved State Championship. What a game! Very sorry I missed it. I'd be very interested in any advice you might have on rehabbing after a start. Obviously it did wonders for PA's staff. It'd be great if you could post it here or email me direct at ctaylor@spectrava.com

Good luck to all of PA's seniors as they head off to college this Fall.
Congratulations to Princess Anne on their state title.

My heart breaks for our local Eagles but to do what they did this season as such a young squad and then to be part of a 12 inning state championship game is nothing to not hold your head up high for. Each player from OHS should be very proud of your season. Most of you return not just next season but the next two seasons.. The future is bright for each of you..

Congrates to a fine PA boys varsity baseball Team, Way to Go. If I was playing in a game like that, you would have to drag me out kicking and screaming, win or lose.
Also want to send congrats to 2 other beach teams for their State Championships, Kempsvilles Girls softball (what a win) and Kellam Girls S****r.
Way to go Beach District, what a stong showing they had this year with all of the State titles brought back to the beach this year.
What a fine bunch of boys and girls athletes.
