Coach, I really don't know all of the particulars. We had just built a new high school and Nike was looking for an Athletic Program to showcase their merchandise. Whether this had any true significance or not is debatable but we did get into the program. Here is what I know for sure. We submitted an offer through our merchandise supplier (Independant Sporting Goods Dealer who submits a bid each year for our business.). We included:
- Team rotation for new uniforms. (We rotate new uniforms on a standard rotation (3 years) for every sport and so, we would be purchasing new uniforms for a couple of teams each year.)
- The number of teams both at the High School and the Middle School.
- Addition issues such as shoe purchase. (We also get in on the Nike Shoes Discount. I am wearing a pair of basketball shoes that cost a lot of money at the area stores. I paid around $40 less.)
- Since we are a government institution, they have to know that we still have to put our equipment out for bid.
Well, hope this helps. We have done well with the deal. I don't know if this is a regular program with Nike. BTW, we don't have to get our camp shirts from this program. However, we have since we have been able, again, to get such good deals.
