If a MLB club "invited" your son and it works into his schedule. He should definitely attend. Go, tell him to do his best and don't expect miracles to happen.
Often, at MLB tryouts, only a select group will be kept for a long period of time. It's possible that after running the 60 and throwing a few baseballs, the day will end for many players.
Make sure it's really a MLB tryout. If there's a fee... It is not a MLB tryout.
There are many people who try to falsly associate there groups with MLB clubs. If anyone ever suspects this, they should call the MLB club being represented.
if invited definately go. Talent level can rarely greatly at open tryout camps. Many camps the talent level can to be kind embarrassing. you might see 30 to 300 players.
It depends alot on how good of job the scout running it is at attracting talent and does he know how to properly run a tryout camp
The invite was from the scouting supervisor of the Atlanta Braves. No fee. Attendees ages 15-22. Thanks for your comments. This should be a great experience for him no matter how well he performs.
I never claimed to be "bright"-- just an old italian male here who is a baseball nut---you said "bright" word and I didnt ask who wrote the article--said I couldnt find the authers name on the article--as in "cut and paste"--
