I just got accepted into one of the colleges I applied for and will be attending there in the 07-08 semester. I also would like to play baseball with them. It is a D3 school and I'm just wondering if I should send the coach my letter or not make a fool of myself. I think I'm good enough but I'm not 100% sure. I'm 5'10 155lbs lefty. I throw mid 70's and I am continuing to work on my velocity. Although I dont have the velocity I have the control and the off speed pitches. I throw a decent change, a very good curveball and I am beginning to get my sinker to work more consistantly. If anyone has had an experiance with D3 or knows the average for a D3 school and if I would be a possibility let me know.
The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America is ruled by it like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past.- Field of Dreams

Go for it! Otherwise, you will always wonder if you could have played. The rest of your life is a long time to walk around wondering....what if?

Poptime is right....get in touch with the coach now. Via phone, email, smoke signal....whatever way is necessary to get his attention...then work on your game.....you've got some time until you enroll. Get focused - and get busy.

Good luck!
Go for it. What's the worst that can happen. I transferred to a new school in the middle of my sophmore year. My brother talked me into going back to school with him in Abilene over Christmas. Things were not working out well where I was as I was not taking school very seriously. Knowing it would do my parents good to see me under the wing of my older brother I agreed. I asked him about the baseball team and he said he didn't know much about them, but he was sure they were pretty good. I'll never quite forgive him for that one.

I got registered and made an appointment to meet with the AD the same day. I could not find the baseball coaches information anywhere. I walked right into his office and laid it all out. I told him who I was, where I had played and why I wanted to walk onto his baseball team. He basically let me sell myself for about 5 minutes then said with a smile that based on the information I had given him and my willingness to come straight to him that he felt sure I would have an excellent chance of making the team, if they had one. Can you imagine going to school on Abilene Texas with no baseball. I laugh about it now, but at the time I was fit to be tied. Met my wife there though and a lot of great friends.

Think about this when you start to think about being embarassed by getting your desire known by the coach. At least you know they have a team, right?
