If you want to play, get in touch with the coach now! Call him, email him, write him. If you don't get on his radar now then you'll have to walk on in the fall, and unless you can blow his socks off your chances of making it as a walk-on are slim.

Go for it! Otherwise, you will always wonder if you could have played. The rest of your life is a long time to walk around wondering....what if?

Poptime is right....get in touch with the coach now. Via phone, email, smoke signal....whatever way is necessary to get his attention...then work on your game.....you've got some time until you enroll. Get focused - and get busy.

Go for it. What's the worst that can happen. I transferred to a new school in the middle of my sophmore year. My brother talked me into going back to school with him in Abilene over Christmas. Things were not working out well where I was as I was not taking school very seriously. Knowing it would do my parents good to see me under the wing of my older brother I agreed. I asked him about the baseball team and he said he didn't know much about them, but he was sure they were pretty good. I'll never quite forgive him for that one.

I got registered and made an appointment to meet with the AD the same day. I could not find the baseball coaches information anywhere. I walked right into his office and laid it all out. I told him who I was, where I had played and why I wanted to walk onto his baseball team. He basically let me sell myself for about 5 minutes then said with a smile that based on the information I had given him and my willingness to come straight to him that he felt sure I would have an excellent chance of making the team, if they had one. Can you imagine going to school on Abilene Texas with no baseball. I laugh about it now, but at the time I was fit to be tied. Met my wife there though and a lot of great friends.

Think about this when you start to think about being embarassed by getting your desire known by the coach. At least you know they have a team, right?
