My 15 1/2 yr old son is 5'9", but only 116 lbs. He started puberty later than his friends, plus he inherited my small bone structure. I think he'll make it to 5'11" (I'm 6'0", 185) and he clearly has a lot of weight to gain. He pitched well on JV this season. On the radar gun, he averaged 70 mph with good movement, good mechanics according to his ex-MLB instructor. Is there a rule of thumb for how fast he should throw when he's 140, 160 lbs? We just started a weight training program and he's due for a growth spurt. Goal is to reach mid-70's in the Fall, 80 by next Spring, his Jr. year. Does this seam reasonable?
