We did a media guide that featured all the players, but focused most on the seniors. It had ***, bios, and other info, and we sold ads. It wasn't a huge moneymaker, but it is a great momento. I'll be glad to email you the .pdf. It's not a masterpiece of graphic design, but it's still pretty good. Smile

We also did an alumni game. Worked with the school to contact former baseball players and got lots of interest. We had guys participate who graduated in the 50's all the way to the 06's. They paid a $25 donation to play, ump or coach, and many of them gave an extra donation once they got there. They really had a lot of fun. The alumni played each other because it's against FHSAA rules for the players to participate. But it was a fun time and a good way to build relationships with the alumni.

Concessions are our biggest moneymaker.

When my son was playing AAU, we hosted a tournament. Between concessions and entry fees, we made about $17,000!
I was the Prize committee chairman for 2007 Project Graduation. Our PG event requires $27 - 30K of cash and in kind donations. We must have the support of the entire town to be successful. Our fundraising committee approaches all the businesses for donations. Parents are asked for donations. I asked WalMart for a donation - I guess I hit at the right time - Corporate WalMasrt gave a check for $1000. My budget for prizes was $12000. We had about 500 kids in attendance - I think about 480 stayed until the end (required to be eligible for prizes) - we had 15 - 20 large prizes - with a Dell laptop computer as the top prize. Every kid got at least 1 - $20 gift card to Best Buy, WalMart, etc. Food was plentiful and great. Entertainment included inflatable games, casino (black jack, craps, poker - Sheriff's dept. work the craps tables), karaoke, DJ, and an incredible hynotist (funniest thing I have ever seen). We try to leave a few thousand in the account for the next year to get started with. It was a great night but it takes a lot of people and a lot of dedication. BTW - our baseball team was still in the playoff race so my son and his teammates got to stay only until 11PM. All the BB moms worked throughout the night and then traveled 3 hours to the games the next day!
We work shifts at the Scottrade Center for Blues Hockey games. We get 10% of the take for the night.

Our cheerleaders just did a raffle for a team jersey, a preferred parking spot and admission for 2 to all home football games. They sent it out to all alum and current students and families. They brought in big bucks doing that.

I love the the media guide idea though and the alum game. Sounds like great fun but our school is only 13years old not too many alum yet.
