Two outstanding reasons to play the benefit game Saturday at The Diamond.

1) Outstanding cause, Susan G. Komen race for the cure will receive the proceeds. Never, ever wrong to do something like that.

2) Of much less importance compared to the first one no doubt, but I still think it is noteworthy. Isn't the regional tournament all at The Diamond this year? This gets both teams acclimated to playing there, so when that regional tournament roles around, there is a level of familiarity that others don't have.

Again, great cause and should be fun for the players.

I don't know Tucker's schedule but I think this game counts (a) against the VHSL 20-game limit and (b) against Chesterfield's 18-game limit applicable to James River.

James River could have played as many as 5 games over spring break, but after going 2-1 they were not in the "final 4". They had the option of playing a 4th, consolation game but decided to come home. My understanding is that this not only keeps this game in the clear but also green lights a May 16 matchup with Benedictine that was previously written on schedules only in pencil.
The general rule for the state of Virginia is twenty regular season games plus two scrimmages. I have seen some teams use one of their scrimmages as a benefit game. However, at this point I would think that calling this game a benefit game is just because it's for a good cause. I would assume that this game does count against limits for regular season games.

Midlo Dad mentions some specific Chesterfield rules about 18 games this year...I'm not sure if they also added any restrictions for scrimmage games.
