Is anyone familiar with this league or have a family member playing or played in it? Its in Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, PA, and West Va I believe. Went to see a game this summer while visiting family in Central Illinois and the talent was pretty good overall...a few pitchers were mid to upper 80s and a few were lower 90s...just didnt know if overall it was pretty good league and how to go about getting on a team. (Due to a sick family member in the area this would be perfect for next summer possibly)...thanks

First thing to do is have son talk to his college coaches about summer ball and see if they have a preference on where (or if) he plays. Assuming they want him to play next thing is to determine if the have a connection with any teams in that league. If they do, you are set. If they don’t you will have to use your own connections. It helps if your son has some decent college stats under his belt.
Adbono his college coach and hs coach kind of over promised and under delivered on summer teams so Im not going to rely on them again. We can get references from a few scouts etc so he may have to look on his own or use the scouts to help him with placement. He has some decent stats from his freshman year at D2, .288 5 HR 19 rbi and was HM All Conference...hopefully this year those numbers will climb immensely
You should be able to get it done with that resume. Go to the league website and see if you can find GMs & HCs of teams you are interested in and look for a connection. Odds are pretty good that you can find one. You’ve been around a while.

That is really disappointing to read about the college coach under delivering, did your kid talk to him about that or did he just let it go?
son mentioned it twice and then let it go...kind of a weird deal
that was more of the hs coach....the college coach just had a lesser league for him, the league isnt very good at all

This sorta puts me in a Francis7 frenzy. Given your kid's ability did the coach not have any connections with the other more competitive collegiate leagues?
We've been to many Prospect League games, primarily the Hoots in O'Fallon, MO (St. Louis) and a couple of River Dragons games in Alton, IL (across the river from STL). Level of play has been pretty good from what we've seen. O'Fallon had a minor league team (Frontier League) until recently, and has a very nice facility.

Just to second this thought...I live about 10 minutes from carshield field where the hoots play and have been to several prospect league games. The competition is very good with quite a few Guys from the excellent jucos we have in the Missouri/Illinois area...also several d1 players. Great facility and good games.
We saw normal play quincy and teams had kids from all levels d1 d2 d3 juco etc. I thought in general the teams were equivalent to decent to good d2 teams. Just my opinion
@Tim Turner We're on the other side of 70 from the park...
I've heard the Corn Belters have a nice park, too. They also were in the Frontier League. We plan on getting up to the Corn Crib some weekend -- has anyone been there? We drive past it all the time going to Wisconsin and back.

We are in St. Paul down highway 79....let’s meet up sometime please.
@Tim Turner That would be great! Our son's club is having its "Hoots Night" tomorrow as the original date was washed out. He plays two tomorrow with his HS buddies, and am not sure if he plans on going to the Hoots game tomorrow or not (we exchanged the tix for a collegiate wood bat double-header a month or so ago -- he has a former HS teammate on the String Cheese). Sent you a PM.
I can understand sending a hurt player to a less competitive league. Player will get reps because even at 90% he is better than the weaker players. Plus coach doesn't burn the bridge to a more competitive league if the player isn't as healthy as projected.
EdCoach;
please open this web site for the Healdsburg "Prunepackers" in the California League.
They play in a "Field of Dreams" wooden ballpark. You may recognize several players from Oklahoma.

The corn crib was pretty nice. Probably ready for a slight upgrade and the sound system was poor but overall would be ok to play at. I think it seats 7 to 8k if I'm not mistaken

Bob thanks for that. I did see a couple of names on that roster I knew. I know oklahoma oklahoma st and Texas tech send players there and it's highly competitive. Would definitely be a great place to develop olin the summer
