Anyone have any experience with PRP for a patella tendon tear?  (For a pitcher, in this case, fwiw.)

Still waiting on some additional imaging.  And every case is different, I know.  But if anyone can share info about the effectiveness of the treatment and how long it took to see results, I'd appreciate the info.  I found some prior posts here about PRP and UCLs, but not patella tendon injuries.

From my research, PRP works much better on tendons and muscles than ligaments.  My son had a shoulder subscapularis tear (mix of muscle and tendon) and while I don't know how much PRP helped, he is healthy now.  I asked everyone that had a contact with an orthopedic doctor if it was worth it to do it, all said if you can afford it, do it.   There is no downside that I am aware of.

As far as timeline, we were told the PRP would not shorten the recovery.  It would only help the shoulder heal more effectively.

Like others, I can't speak for the patella tendon. But my son (going into senior year of college) was at his ortho today because of elbow pain that he's never experienced. Doctor doesn't think it's a UCL tear (having MRI Weds) and thinks more muscular. He already started talking about a PRP injection to get him playing his last year. Seems like in the last few years, a lot of folks have had success with the injections.
