Pujols... Best start ever??

Not to take anything away from Pujols, the best postion player in baseball, but I just read an interesting stat. Scott Kazmir just won his 7th game of the season. He is the youngest pitcher to win 7 games this early in a season since Fernando Valenzuela did it back in 1981! Mark down the trade of Kazmir from the Mets to TB for Victor Zambrano and Bartolome Fortunato as one of the best (or worst) trades ever.

Check out this weeks sports illustrated with Pujols on the cover and you can see why he is such a great hitter. They have some great shots of him hitting. Also a lot of talk about his off season workouts and hitting the opposite way.

Just think, Kazmir is doing it on a pretty bad team.

Pujols will be the next guy to be accused of building his body through chemicals.

He already has been accused and he has addressed it within the last week or so.

One thing he has going for him is his consistency. I don't believe that Bonds or McGuire had the consistency that Albert has shown. He has hit the ball so well all 6 years in the league whereas the two juiced players have changed greatly from when they started.

Actually McGuire was one of the most prolific Home Run Hitters of all time even when he was young and thin. He just had a hard time staying healthy.

McGwire's troubles started when he started bulking up. He was pretty svelte when he set the rookie HR record with 49 in 1987. By the early '90's, he was having all sorts of soft tissue problems, esp. in his heels.

Question: Looking back, was this the first warning sign of his steroid use?

or maybe the steroid use started as way to heal faster.
