I am not sure I understand. Every recent exposure I have had is to stay inside the ball and to hit the ball out in front. Jeter is amazing and ARod also seems to be a classic.
The minor leaguers I watched who stayed outside the ball eventually struggled mightily and had to make major adjustments.
One training tool to focus on staying inside the ball but hitting the other way is soft toss where the focus is to hit into a net or fence with every swing, while staying inside the ball, being directed to right center.
