My son will be attending one this weekend in SC, and the way I understand it, I don't think there will be college coaches, etc there. I'm not positve though. My son is a rising sophomore in HS and he's participating to get familiar with the tryout/showcase environment. This is his first event of any kind. You can email ryan koch at the Baseball Factory, and he can tell you more.
I am not sure where the $3,000.00 figure came from. My son was invited to play in Puma Preseason All American game thsi past winter in Tucson. It was a great event, Team One did a great job with organization, combine workout and games. There were many scouts in attendance and overall it was a very enjoyable worthwhile weekend. For those whose son's have aspirations to play in Cape Cod HS All Star Classic this is one way. My son was invited at conclusion of Puma event.

I think Puma only $500.00 or so and it was certainly worth it.
My son recently went to one of these. He was invited to play in the Southeast Team One showcase and the Academic Showcase as well. Price to attend around 300.00. We are already comitted to WWBA Underclass Nationals and WWBA Jupiter event as well as his fall schedule which is quite full. I did think the staff was very good and the event was ran very well. They did each kid a rating and they got gun readings on all the catchers and pitchers as well as pop times. They ran the 60 and bp was limited with only 6 swings. Overall they did a nice job.
My son was invited last year and we went to Arizona for the Puma Preseason All American. It did cost thousands. It was $699 for him to attend for the weekend. Then you have airfare, hotel, meals, car rental. I guess it depends on where you are traveling from to get there and if you are traveling with your son. There were no college recruiters or scouts there. Colleges are unable to attend during the month that the event is held. It is only a weekend event so it is a pretty hectic schedule if you are traveling from the east. He was invited again this year. We didn't attend.

There were many scouts in attendance at last year Puma event in Tucson. I personally spoke with Dodgers and Angels scouts and there were many others watching who I believe were scouts ..... brief cases, notebooks and stop watches wearing long pants

One thing that I really enjoyed was the opening night talk given by Rockies manager Clint Hurdle and Clint was at the facility for both days during all the games.
We received a Puma National Tryout invite for 9/24 in Azusa, CA. Says it only costs 40 dollars. Top players may be selected to participate in either Team One Regional Showcase, Arizona Fall Classic, Cactus Classic, Dodgertown or Cape Cod HS Classic. Trying to decide whether to do this one or the Team OneSuper Regional same weekend in Arizona. Son is an 07...any thoughts?
If you had been invited to the Team One Super Regionals, why would you go to a try out for a Regional Showcase.

If you want to get invited to the other events, just let Justin Roswell know and he most likely can get you in if you are qualified.

Baseball Factory and Team One have pretty much changed for the money.

Have you been to many showcases, if you have, as an 07' you should start to focus in on specific schools vs just going to many showcases.
Thanks for reply Homerun. You've kind of stated what I have been thinking...but there has been some conflicting responses on whether to continue with showcases in the senior year. Son went to a number of college camps this summer. Will play for his school's fall league and continue to train on his own. One response was to continue to go to as many showcases as possible in the hopes that a college that hadn't previously seen him might have a chance to evaluate him. In other words, be proactive until a college begins showing interest. I wasn't sure if the name "super regional" actually meant anything at all or if it was just a ruse to get you to go.
We also received the invitation to the Team One Super Regional in Tempe, AZ.

In the past, Team One used to run a Team One National out of Las Vegas, it was considered Team One's premiere event (other than the new Cape Cod event) for the top players in the country and those who attended where the who's who. We attended last year and it was a good event for the juniors who attended and there were a lot of coaches and scouts. We came back the next day to see the talent of the seniors and most of the coaches and scouts had left, it was pretty sad.

This year they have divided up the country and will be running two “Super Regional”, this may give more players (07-09’s) the ability to attend and the regional coaches and scouts can see more kids, but it also equates to more participants at $399 per player or $798 for the full package.

Team One used to do a very good write-up on the event and post it on their web site and had scouting information on each of the players, which they would post on their prospect database, but it appears that Team One no longer does that other than Name, height, weight and other high level information, in fact, they had removed detail comments that had been accumulated through the years and now have the participants call their "contact" for follow-up to how they did.

Bottom line, they want to you continue to contact them so they can sell you on participating in other events such as the Arizona Fall Classic, Baseball Factory’s Dodger town, etc., at a couple of thousand of dollars for the weekend or more for a weeklong event.

My son was nominated by his coach to try out. He did and was invited to go to Cape Cod for one week for $ 3,300.00. Way to much for me. We attended a showcase called Battle of the States sponsored by Impactsports.com for $ 450.00. 6 games guaranteed and it was heavily scouted
The scouts at the Puma All-American event were being paid to work the event with most hitting ground balls and clocking the 60. Sofield was entertaining at the awards banquet that had no awards and no banquet. There were jugs and plastic glasses for water. It was $699 plus airfare plus car rental plus hotel plus meals. It was the biggest waste of money I spent on my son ever.
