Any insight on Purdue University? Academics. Son wants to major in Accounting, and he'll be a Jr. going in with an Assoc.'s in Business. How about the new Coach Mark Wasikowski who was just hired over from Oregon?

Pudue's claim to fame is engineering. I know a man who walked onto the team and had quite a nice career there. He took 5 years to graduate. Actually was a redshirt his sophomore year. Took 5 years to graduate.
Anything I know about the baseball program is outdated. The Engineering program is top notch. My dad graduated from Pudue, on a full ride scholarship. (I inherited my athletics ability from him, So no not athletics were involved. ) He received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
Son Applied and was accepted but chose Ohio State instead. It is a state school and the tuition for out of state was not terrible. But could not come close to Ohio State.
Non of this probably helps you, and I am sorry for that, but it keeps your question at the top of the list.
My oldest, not playing baseball son, is a jr. at Purdue in accounting. He loves it there. He started off at MSU and transferred to Purdue (long story). He feels like he is getting a better education at Purdue. He had a great internship with a large accounting firm in Chicago, our hometown, last semester. They have invited him back next summer and told him he will have a job when he graduates.
I think the business program at Purdue is overlooked. From everything I have seen its very good. Good class sizes as well.
PM me if you have specific questions.
BTW, Purdue has been able to freeze tuition for the last couple of years. No promises going forward but they are doing everything they can to not raise tuition. Also, for an out of state school the cost of attendance is slightly below some of the other options both of my sons have looked at.
Thanks for your replies. Ryno is on an official visit there today and tomorrow. We are from out west, so I know very little regarding the area or school. It seems to be a highly ranked public school. Hopefully the visit goes well.
Pretty small town. But it is where my Mom and Dad met, so it cannot be all bad.
My daughter attends Purdue, graduating in May, she loves its there. She transferred from the University of Findlay to study Vet Technology (think nursing for animals). It was just ranked the fourth best public school by the Wall Street Journal. It's not the prettiest campus but a great school.
I know the games are surprisingly well attended in a nice little ballpark. About 1000 a game. As the program improves will draw even better I would think. To me that's important cause there are a group at the top that draw well but overall relatively few schools that boast 1000 a game. Would be fun.
The new coach seems very aggressive in pursuit of talent. I think he will build the program up quickly.
