Only comment I can make is that a teammate of my son's went to a camp at Purdue this past winter and said it was great. My son (2012 catcher will most likely go to this.)
lebanonbb, did your son get an invite? Mine did, and we are still not sure if he is going. He would miss the last 3 days of school and also the travel expense. Still debating it...
I did get an invite, The traveling is a bit far for us also.
My son attended. Hard to evaluate the experience until we see how it plays out. Head coach did not attend. Asst. Coach Sawyers was there (head recruiter). The players were broken down into 4 teams. Two played on the Purdue field on day 1 while the other two played a few miles away in front of a few small school coaches that worked the camp. On day 2 the teams switched places. At no time did I see a radar gun on the pitchers. Hard to tell if they were really accomplishing anything in regards to recruiting.
I don't know if it is so, but when my son received an invite to this last year, I got the impression it was more of a money maker. The RC seems to run lots of camps - JMHO.
2012 was in a tournament down there a few weeks ago. Purdue head coach was doing the field maintenance and running the score board. Like has abeen said many many times here, you never no when some one is watching.
