I've seen it used lately. Coach had back tee a little higher than front tee. Think it was to stop batter from having an upercut swing. Wouldn't this cause them to cut/swing down on get to ball on front tee?
I think that is the wrong use of the drill. Instead of swinging over the back tee and down on the ball (generally considered bad), the player should swing inside the back tee and develop the inside path to the ball (generally considered good).
