I am a new member, but have been reading the message boards for about six months - I have learned so much, thank you! My son received an offer of a partial athletic/partial academic scholarship to a D-1 school (on his list) last week and the coach asked for a verbal commitment by the end of September. Anybody else in this situation? We haven't had an official visit yet, although it is in the process of being scheduled. Another school of interest has made an offer but does not seem to be pushing so hard for an answer.

PA Mom,
Welcome to the HSBBW. We have a few PA moms here!
It's not uncommon for coaches to give deadlines for commitments, even before official visits. Giving until the end of september is reasonable. He may have someone else in mind if your son is not intrested.
It can be a pressure situation, but son shouldn't committ to anything until your son feels it is right.
