Question about Attending a College Game

"I know about KG and I AM NO KG!" but...BABERUTH....YES! I see no harm in it. What better place to meet a coach than at the ballpark? Of course, try to remember how many distractions there are before, during, and after games. Let him know that you will be attending before the game.

For those of us not as quick as others with the dangling modifiers, that means contacting the coach prior to the game you plan on attending and letting him know you'll be in attendance.

Okay so if you don't contact him or say he doesn't respond, then it's not a good idea to go up to him?

The reason I ask is I might just decide that day to go.

Introduce yourself either way if you find him in a position where he is not addressing his team, the media, or those blood-******* parents. You can always send him a note later saying, "I'm the guy that introduced myself after the ____ game."

OR... e-mail one of the assistant coaches. As previously indicated, they are VERY busy right now, so they might not respond. BUT, an e-mail certainly couldn't hurt.

Babe, with or without advance notice, it can't hurt. Respect his time, keep it very short. And as others have said, try not to interrupt anything important (e.g., no contact near game time).

If you care to tell which JUCO teams's game you are thinking of attending, you might be able to get a little more specific info on how the coach might act.

Provided you arrive and contact the coach well before game-time, you should be alright. Just introduce yourself, and tell him you are interested in his program. I obviously don't know the specific coach or situation, but I hear that often the coach will carry the conversation (ask you questions) once you start it.

Call the coach up before hand to get free tickets available to all recruits. Sometimes coach goes out of the way to meet attending recruits. They will strike up conversation like what HS, Summer team.
If you know a player that plays for the school your interested in. Have player introduce you to the coach. You learn more about how things are done at particular school if you have contact with players.
Coach's tend to sugar coat conversations. Private schools you might want to take dad's W-2.

Okay, I'm really not sure what games but I thought if there was one on a Saturday fairly close I would go. I really want to continue to play baseball in college and really not too particular which school (I'm looking mainly at JUCO). I am also not on one of the "top select teams" so don't know that I will get alot of exposure that way or have any connections. So me and my parents are trying to do alot of leg work on our own. Thanks everyone for your responses. I will definately try to contact the coach if I know in advance. If I go without contact I'll let ya'll know how the conversation went.

I agree with calling or emailing the coach. I did that when I was looking at schools, and it helped. Plus, I was able to get free tickets to the game.
