I am wanting to put something on a wall in our fieldhouse for our past players that have gone on to sign college scholarships. Something like framing an action shot of them and putting who they've signed with. Any ideas? Does anyone have anything similar they do at their place they would like to share?

Thanks for the info. I'm not really that interested if they transfer. I would just like to put what program they originally signed with.If they transferred I don't think it'd be that big of a deal to change the picture. I think its a great thing for these guys and what they've accomplished to have something for them to look back on and be proud of. Also I think its something that the young guys would strive to be a part of and it also helps showcase the tradition of the program.

TB, my daughter's travel program had a "Wall of Fame." On that wall are the pictures of each of the girls that signed and the college that they signed with. It also contains a small note of how many years they were in that travel program. It is really a neat idea and I know my daughter is excited to have her picture go on that wall. BTW, it also list each section by year. So, 2011 for this program will list 8 girls that signed.
Not a bad idea and I have seen it done before. My question is: It seems so many guys now go to college and transfer or go for a year and hang 'em up. Do you want their picture up? So many private colleges have a JV team to bring kids into those colleges. Many of those JV teams couldn't beat a good HS team and the perception is that some of these kids are going to college and getting a baseball scholarship. Do we hang pictures up of those guys.

A quick story: A neighboring HS (average program) had 2 seniors that weren't good enough to start sign with a weak private college to play JV ball. They told everyone that they had signed a scholarship and that their HS coach was a goon because they were good enough to get a college scholarship but not good enough to start on the HS team. It was enough for the administration to get rid of the coach. And the coach was an okay coach, not great not bad, but definitely shouldn't have lost his job.
If I saw this in some other school's fieldhouse I'd think it was cool. I'd enjoy checking it out and seeing concrete evidence of individual players' post-HS success.

I wouldn't want it in my own school's fieldhouse because it doesn't send the message I like to send to my current team, in this moment, in this battle--de-emphasizing stats and individual success. Process oriented. Hard work as its own reward. Stay in the moment. Team. Lunch pail. Blue collar.
