The best thing would be to let your son do what he wants to do. Which team does he prefer. Its not important that he be seen. Its important that he have fun and enjoy playing. If he is good he will be seen by the right people. If he wants to play college baseball he will get a chance to play it. There are many opprotunities to do that. Legion ball is still ok in Va. but a select team may allow for more games. Do not count on a baseball scholarship the amounts aren't that much anyway. Most schools don't even have the 11.7. Just because your a D1 doesn't mean they have 11.7. Some have 4 or 5. You will have to pay for most of school so the bottom line is to play where your happy and will have fun.

Maybe this is the case in Texas. But in California, my son would not have been seen by any colleges had he just played in his summer team. His varsity coach insists that they play for the school's summer team which doesn't play in any tournaments. Just basically a low level league for most of the summer. My son fits in showcases and camps between summer league games. He's playing 6-7 days a week. He doesn't need the scholarship money. He just wants a chance to play Division 1 near home.
