runners at 1st and 2nd, no outs, batter bunts towards 1B, coming from the right handers batters box the BR runs inside the line and brushes the 1B, 1B throws late to 2B covering first. I was PU and trailed BR out of the box, saw the contact, but for some reason I did not call dead ball and the interference. Play concludes with bases loaded and still no outs. I call time and tell BU, who is more experienced than me, that I have interference on BR. He says, correctly, that I should have called dead ball immediately and asked what I wanted to do. I tell him that I will call the interference on the BR, and return runners to 1B and 2B. He instructs me that we can not do that and we need to eat the call. I know I seen the contact and should have call DB immediately, but how should we have proceeded after my mistake?

I believe this is one which can be called even if it is late. I know it looks bad but it is the same as a foul ball. No plays can occur after it happens by rule. This is not the same as something which allows subsequent play such as an uncalled IFR (that keeps the ball live and cannot be fixed in OBR).

So, I believe the runners could have been returned. But, get ready for an ejection or at least, very upset HC.

What is the rule set? While OBR doesn't allow for something to be "fixed", I don't think this is "fixing" anything since nothing can occur when it happened.

If this is viewed as "fixing" the situation, then I am wrong under OBR. But, if it is just a late call, then it could have been enforced.

I'd have to see this and know what you mean by "brushes" F3. I can see this as a no call and I can see the potential for interference.

First rule to remember when calling interference...there must be interference.
