Sorry for such a basic question.

Does a freshman player who signed a NLI, attended but then left a D1 after the Fall Semester to enroll at a JUCO become eligible for the pro draft for the upcoming year or does his eligibility stay with his college class?

And what is the 4-2-4 rule? Does it apply now, or in August of 2008?

Yes he is eligible for the June draft.

4-2-4 is when you play for a 4 year NCAA school, go to a 2 year school, then go back to a 4 year NCAA school. After that he can not transfer to another 4 year NCAA school, some go to a NAIA school and can play at that point.

So is there a one-year wait when transferring back to the 2nd D1 school? Could a kid theoretically play as a freshman at the first D1 school, transfer to a JC and play one day--or not at all--and then transfer back to play for the second D1 the sophomore year?

If you transfer to Juco from D-1, the only way to go back to D-1 is get associates degree from Juco.

You also have to have a certain academic progression toward a specific degree at the new D1 school. You also need to be careful about transferring credits....it is difficult to look forward but you need to be careful of what classes you take at the JC with a plan on transferring credits. You need to work with a counselor that really cares and knows what they are doing in relationship to APR progression for a "baseball" scholar/athlete.
