Well, the first September letter arrived for my 07, with the questionaire enclosed.

Many of the questionaires ask for some sort of ranking by the recruit. One said to list the schools you want to visit in order of preference.

Question - if you are returning the form to, say, your No 3 school, do you tell the truth and list it No. 3, or is that the kiss of death? I have always told my kid to tell the truth, and the letters so far come from schools that he will kill to get to play for. But as a mid level prospect, I don't want him to kill the process before it starts by offending someone or unnecessarily hurting his chances.

In these situations Son always put "TBD" as an answer. At this stage of the recruiting game deciding which is the right "fit" is a work in-progress, so replying "to be determined" is actually truthful ... right? Wink There is no need to answer every question on those profiles when you are unsure. The important thing is to provide the schools with contact information (yours & baseball references) and where they can see you play in the future. I do suggest that every questionnaire you receive be completed and returned. You never know where the best offer/fit is going to come from. Smile
RHP05Parent has given you good advice.

Despite what you may think NOW, there is virtually NO WAY you can know the correct order at this point in time anyways. If your son is lucky enough to get more than one offer down the road, there are many, many factors that will order the schools on his list that you haven't even imagined yet.

Leave it blank or put TBD. Virtually no one will care anyways.
I think that it's an interesting question. . .my son wanted to answer it in the one we just filled out and he did it honestly. (of course, it helped that this is a school he is very interested in) I can't imagine that it will hurt or help, and leaving it blank might be the best tactic unless it is a school that he is really interested in.
By all means put undecided if that is the truth. Big Grin

The reason for this question. Not sure. I don't think it is really important until after July 1 of your senior year. By that time they will just come out and ask.

BTW, Clemson was always last on the list!
