Questions about showcases

Many times in these boards, I've come across the word "showcase." The thing is, I dont exactly know what a showcase is. All I know is that its where you go to get some scout attention. But what is it? A league? A select team? A tournament? Any answers are well appriciated. I figure that you have to be a senior in HS to attend one, but maybe I'm wrong.

There are showcases for individuals and also showcases for teams

You do not need to be a HS senior to take part

BMG-I suggest you attend one of TR's showcases if you can. One guy on my 18u elite team went and got plenty of attention and a sholarship to a junior college I think in Florida. He then kept telling me that I should have gone cause he says I would have gotten a scholarship too, but I didn't here about the showcase until the last day of the showcase, and now I'm too old to go.
