Son is a 2014 catcher.  During school vacation this week, we are traveling (flying) to visit a couple of a schools he would like to see.  We have made contact with coaches and have arranged to view a practice at each school.  We really want to see campus, see the cities the schools are in, etc.  Question is this, is there any need to bring his gear?  I don't want to check a bag with his catchers stuff and bats for no reason, but at the same time, I don't want him to not have his stuff If he needs it.  Will he get asked to do anything by coaches on a visit like this.  I'm not even sure if there is a rule that says you can or can't work out in a scenario like this.  Appreciate your advice.  Thanks.

It does help a lot, thanks very much.  I wouldn't think a coach would want to consume valuable in season practice time looking at a potential recruit.  I was also wondering though if after practice if anyone had seen a coach as a kid to take some swings or do some drills.  I'm guessing not, I just don't want him to be caught off guard.  Thanks for the help Fenway.
