A very proud dad is happy to announce that my son, Quinton Miller (08 RHP) has committed to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Thanks to all that have helped us wade through this exciting and sometimes terrifying journey. I hope I can repay my dept to all of you by helping others that will follow.

Does it get any better that this!!!

No it doesn't imho. They have been to the College World Series Final in the last two years and are obviously at the very top of the college baseball food chain.

The only thing better than this will be when you get to see him play for the first time and everytime thereafter. A tremendous accomplishment and best wishes for the young man. Please enjoy the final year of high school baseball. It is also the best of times Smile

Beezer - proud to say I was born a Buckeye and raised in Kentucky. Had the best of all worlds growing up, UK basketball, Ohio State football, Big Red Machine, Browns then Bengals and of course the Kentucky Derby!

Justbaseball - Thankfully the family back home was okay about Jerseyson not going back to "Bearcat land", however imagine telling my dad (die hard University of Kentucky fan) that my son is going to North Carolina! The only thing that might have been worse was if I had told him he was going to Indiana or Duke! (*$%*!@? Christian Laettner) Wink

The fact you're denying him a chance to matriculate to a school in buckeye-land is unconscionable.....well, I guess my son would jump at the chance to don the columbia blue uniform in a NYC second as well!!! Congrats.

This is what happens when you run a very successful program, the best of the best want to come.

JD,
Bee> reminded me, welcome to the ACC, the BEST conference in college baseball. Cool

To this day - I will remember the game Quinton pitched down in Ft Myers. The best pitched game I have ever seen in youth baseball.

I believe we were also at that game. Things probably would have worked out about the same for Quinton, but despite maybe not knowing it at the time... THAT game proved to be very important for him. It WAS fun to watch... Oh! maybe not for you at that time??? Wasn't your son's team the opponents that day?

There were some of our people who would say it was one of the best pitching performances they had seen, too.
Thanks to everyone for your congratulatory wishes.

I have to admit that after my son made his commitment one of the first things I thought about doing was to post our happy news on the HSBBW site. Its funny (some say peculiar) how this place has become so important to me. I have received an incredible education by reading literally thousands of posts from some very smart people. I sincerely believe if I hadn’t found this place my son might not have found the opportunity he has been presented with. Not because he lacked the talent but because we might not have known how to put him in the best position to be in front of the right people at the right time.

Not that anyone asked for it however if I have any advice to those starting the recruiting process I would say this. Memorize the articles written on the HSBBW home page and spend as much time soaking up the insights shared in the forums as you can, (well, most of the insights shared anyway) and don’t be afraid to ask questions. You may get some crusty responses from time to time however if you stay with it you will learn valuable lessons and maybe make a few friends along the way. My other piece of advice is to find a way to get to one of Perfect Games showcases and/or WWBA tournaments. There is no doubt in my mind that without PG events my son might have never had the chance to be seen on such a big stage. I know there are other good programs out there however if there is a better program that helps high school ballplayers I am not aware of it.

Finally to MN-MOM, I am sure that none of us can appreciate the time and effort it must take to run the HSBBW site. Thanks for keeping this going and just as importantly thanks to you and the other moderators for keeping this a fun place to hang out. Now that I think about it, I need to make another donation. (might not be a bad time for everyone else to pony up as well)

There are literally dozens of others that I should thank (TPM, PGSTAFF, COACH MAY, MIDLO DAD to name a few) but I won’t prolong this post any longer. Thanks to all of you, the HSBBW site is a very special place to me and I hope it never changes.

THANKS!!!

Without this site I would have never met JD. I get a thrill out of seeing other peoples kids reach their dreams and sharing in the joy of the parents as well. Q took his time and I feel made a great choice in choosing a school to not only play baseball at but get an education. I am so happy for him and his family. See you soon JD!!
