Just got home and turned on the CWS.  UVA's catcher is wearing an all white uniform with all white catcher's gear.  Is it possible on a comebacker to the pitcher he could lose it or affect his depth perception on the ball coming out of all that white?

I can coach the heck out of pitchers but I never pitched either so not sure what that ball really looks like coming back at me.  During BP as soon as I let the ball I go I duck behind the screen.  I'm a fat guy who doesn't fit behind the screen very well so I try to make myself fit.

I'd find it unsettling as a fielder or umpire. With experience, I've become pretty good at reading a ball off a bat, yet there are those conditions where something's different and there's a split second that I can't--and until I know the ball is not going at either head, I'm a little apprehensive.

This is what I'm talking about.  The ball is coming at the fielders harder than the ball is coming at the batters (typically) so why not have a background that helps them pick the ball up easier.  That quick second can throw off your depth perception or ability to see the ball.
